Summer School 2024: Produced Water Management - towards zero harmful Discharge to the Ocean

Learn more about produced water management through this intensive high-level course.

The summer school provides a full week of teaching, presentations, and excursions.

This summer school will focus on both fundamental aspects of produced water as a very complex and potential ecotoxic effluent from the oil and gas industry as well as the needs and actions of treatment to control the impact on the environment.

You will be introduced to the newest regulatory demands, the ecotoxicity evaluations, fundamentals on how this complex oil-in-water system behaves and what the implications are for developing and optimizing treatment. The newest practices in PW analysis and how chemistry affects the behavior of droplets in the water.

Two of the five days are devoted to in-depth analysis of multiple case studies on PW treatment and how to efficiently develop reinjection of PW for disposal in the reservoir, and how to understand problems and solve these from an operator’s point of view.

Finally, we take a view on how knowledge gained from PW handling also applies in other areas including the new energy systems such as wind and PtX.
